What is CELTA?
The term CELTA stands for Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Languages. This is one of the various teaching certifications available that is specifically from Cambridge University. It is internationally recognized and is sometimes required for new and experienced individuals who want to teach English abroad. This is similar to TESOL, however it is distinct from TESOL as it is backed by Cambridge.
What You Don’t Need
For the vast majority of CELTA programs (online or in person) and providers, you will not need any bachelor’s degree, teaching license or credential.
What You Do Need
As long as your english is proficient, at least 18 years of age, have high school/GED (or equivalent), and you have tuition fee for the program, then you should be able to enroll into any CELTA program.
